To Levi, on your 12th birthday!

Levi,

 Happy birthday young man.  What a joy it is to be your mom.  I am so thankful that your dad and I were blessed with you and Jacob - it's been amazing.  You are quickly morphing from little boy to young man.  It is astonishing to me to see you walk through the house sometimes - almost full grown!  I can't imagine what it will be like in a few years!

 You are still very excited about video games.  You really enjoy both the challenge and defeating them!  You still like to build Legos.  I'd say your passion is reading though.  All day, every day it seems, you love to read.  I don't think you leave the house without a book.  I love watching you explore new worlds and meet new friends through books - it's a special thing!  Dad and I got you some books for your birthday - always a highlight for you!

You also had your first birthday party this year!  We did pizza and cupcakes at the park with a bunch of friends.  It was a lot of fun.  I hope you enjoyed it and it was memorable for you.  You are easy to please!  Most of your friends gave gifts of art supplies, which is probably your other favorite passion.

 I'm proud of you and so excited to see who you are becoming!

 Jacob, Young man, I am proud of you!  It is so interesting watching you grow and see how your personality continues to develop and change.  You have a deep sense of justice and what things to be "right".  You are also always taking in the world around you and trying to make sense of everything you see.  Sometimes you share "facts" that aren't really facts and it is interesting watching you have to sort out things that are true and things that "someone said once". Homeschool Update

So I am thinking all things homeschool lately...mainly because my husband gave me an awesome budget for next year that is allowing me to think outside the box a little bit.  We just purchased two Chromebooks for the girls to use with their school work...then I threw out the internet based curriculum I was using.  Right?  Ha!  Fortunately I got a great deal on them and one only works when it is sitting right next to the router so they are going to send me a third one for FREE!  Anyway, enough about that.  This year has been frustrating with History and Science.  The curriculum we are using is good, but it isn't capturing Grace's attention and she is young enough that I want her to really enjoy it, not just get through it.  When she has classes she HAS to take for high school credits she can worry about doing them because she has to.  Right now, we're going to enjoy it.  The curriculum we've been using is pretty dry next year as well fo...

Life & Waiting

I have a love/hate relationship with waiting for babies.  Logically I know I'll be spending the next 18-20 years with this boy...but that doesn't make these next couple of weeks feel any shorter!  Last week the baby was transverse (sideways) across my stomach which is an automatic C-section if he presents that way when I'm in labor.  Fortunately he is now (well, as of Wednesday) either butt down (breech) or head down (ideal!).  Either way is better!  I'm still praying he is head down because that is best case for all of us.  We shall see.  This is one active baby but I think I've said that about all of them.  Either way, I can't wait to meet him and I'm confident God has his birth all under control.
